On La Palma, beach volleyball is less a permanently organised beach service than a mixture of public sports areas, seasonal events and spontaneous games. The mild climate allows play throughout the year, but wind, swell and beach use change conditions from day to day.
The former weekend gatherings at Charco Verde and Puerto Naos can no longer be presented as a fixed session or open club. Players should ask locally about nets and groups or bring their own equipment, without obstructing bathing areas, emergency access or protected parts of the beach.
Beaches with sport and volleyball
Santa Cruz de La Palma
The official tourism website lists sports facilities for volleyball and beach football at the city beach. It is open year-round and has showers, toilets and a central location.
Charco Verde and Puerto Naos
Both beaches regularly host sport and leisure programmes, although permanent volleyball nets and open sessions are not guaranteed. Charco Verde has showers, toilets, parking and a beach kiosk.
Puerto de Tazacorte
Tazacorte beach hosts seasonal tournaments and open activities. Dates and entry conditions are published for each edition; an organised game is not guaranteed outside events.
A more predictable option in the south
Hotel La Palma Princess in Fuencaliente lists a beach-volleyball court among its sports facilities. This is a more predictable option for hotel guests than trying to arrange a spontaneous game on a public beach. Access, the daily programme and use by non-guests should be confirmed directly with the hotel.

Practical advice on the beach
Morning and late afternoon are usually most comfortable, when the black sand is cooler. Sun protection, sufficient water and a ball are basic equipment. Check a portable net and its anchors carefully and remove everything after the game.
Choose a clear, level area well away from swimmers, access routes and the waterline. Observe flags, lifeguard instructions and municipal rules. Strong wind, heavy swell or a crowded beach make play neither comfortable nor considerate.
After the match, Charco Verde and other serviced beaches offer showers and refreshments. Opening hours are seasonal; leave the sand and surroundings as you found them.
