Acropark La Palma

The former forest adventure park

Acropark La Palma opened in 2011 in pine forest near Refugio El Pilar. Platforms among the trees were linked by zip lines, suspension and Tibetan bridges, nets, ladders and ropes at different heights. It was designed for families as well as more active visitors.

Older descriptions listed separate children's, junior and senior circuits with different minimum heights and difficulty levels. Those details now form part of the site's history and should not be treated as current access or safety conditions.

Current status

Acropark cannot currently be confirmed as operating regularly for the public. Its former website is unavailable, there is no current booking facility and today's official description of Refugio El Pilar does not list the climbing park among its usable amenities.

Do not travel there expecting to use the courses. Old opening times, prices, height requirements and telephone numbers have deliberately been removed. Any future reopening should only be promoted after confirmation by an operator or the authorities.

Refugio El Pilar today

The surrounding forest is still well worth visiting. The official Refugio El Pilar recreation area includes parking, toilets, picnic tables, play areas, an environmental information point and access to the trail network in Cumbre Vieja Natural Park.

Some facilities, including fire pits or camping, require prior permission or booking. Current information is published by the Cabildo de La Palma environmental service.

Before travelling up

Refugio El Pilar lies in highland forest and is reached by the LP-301. Temperature, wind and visibility can differ greatly from the coast, so a light jacket and sturdy footwear are useful even on a sunny day.

Check weather alerts, road conditions and possible closures before setting out. Do not enter closed or abandoned parts of the former park, and never use any ropes, platforms or safety equipment that may remain.
